“Remember this?” Tatsuro asked as he pulled out a wrapped paper bundle and placed it on the table in front of you while you read from a book at the LRN.

You placed the book aside, and unfolded the paper to discover a withered and crudely made flower crown.

A gasp escapes your lips. “It’s the murasaki flower crown you made me when we were kids.”

“Yeah.” A tender look appears in Tatsuro’s brown eyes. “You were sad because you were sick, and you couldn’t go to the festival and wear your new yukata.”

“So you made me a flower crown of my favorite color and stayed with me instead of going.” You finished with a giggle. “I can’t believe you kept it after all these years.”

“Of course I did.” He looked up into your eyes and smiled shyly. “That was the day I promised myself to always take care of you and today, I promise you I always will.”
